CDI’s program in downtown Pittsburgh serves men throughout Allegheny County needing our assistance with the appropriate clothing for their upcoming job interview and uniforms or professional dress to begin work. Our clients do not have the resources to purchase clothing. Without our help employment would not be possible. Many of our clients have returned to thank us and tell us of their success on the job. Our client, James, is an example of the positive results that come from our services.
During the winter months James, a single parent, unpacked freight trucks for a large grocery store. He worked in a freezer and handled frozen products for eight hours a day. Without the proper clothing to keep him warm James wouldn’t be able to maintain the position. When CDI received the referral for James we noticed he was 6'6" and finding attire for him would be a challenge. We were able to provide him thermal undergarments, work gloves and a thermal jump suit. James is approaching 6 months of job retention and often stops by with his family to check in and thank us for the help we provided when he needed it most. Congratulations James!
